about

The eighth release on katharsis is the EP “Something in Me Does Not Suffer” by the Detroit-based artist Infant. His earlier releases on labels such as Rest Now!, media_rins and WET illustrates the artist’s ethereal style of ambient and experimental music. With the title of this release drawing on the mysticism of the French philosopher Simone Weil, Infant takes us through a selection of astral soundscapes providing us with light for the spirit and nourishment for the soul.

Throughout the release, the listener is presented with long stretches of celestial pads accompanied by the ambience of nature and whispered words from the artist himself. He states the following about the EP: “It’s a collection of material produced in the midst of a deep quarantine-induced haze. Between working from home, making clothes, and spending lots of time in the woods, I produced these pieces, weaving together poetry, field recordings and mutated synthesis. There’s no conceptual underpinning, only a desire to reconcile myself with the state of things”.
